On this day 14 years ago, Celtic beat Rangers 2-0 to lift the League Cup at Hampden. Season 2008/09 ended on a sour note as Celtic blew the title at the last hurdle, but this Cup final lives long in the memory.
After 90 minutes of frantic action, the game ended in stalemate. However, in extra time Celtic sprung into life when Darren O’Dea scored a beautiful header from Nakamura’s free kick delivery. Aiden McGeady then drew a foul in the box with some great trickery and stepped up to score the resultant spot kick.

It was a great day with a phenomenal atmosphere, capped off by the goalscorers being two products of the youth academy who were Irish internationalists.
