Video: Ange takes aim at hacks again with wry October retort

It’s fair to say since Ange Postecoglou took over the reins at Celtic he’s had to contend with a lot. The guy had a new team to build, navigate qualifiers for European competition and get supporters back onside, on top of a mainstream media and print newspaper industry that treated him with the utmost contempt and disrespect.

Since his first major interview with the media, Ange has had to contend with questioning along the lines of – and in the same tone – as the hack who asked whether the jump from where he’s managed would be too much to managing in the SPFL. That particular clown was put back in his box straight away it is safe to say.

However, this hasn’t stopped the pile-on of ridiculous and condescending questions and statements put before the Greek-Aussie. Merely a couple of weeks ago the media inferred that this league season was over after we dropped points. Ange rightly took umbridge at this, pointing out that it was only September, saying “you’s call it early here, don’t you’s?”. A barb back against an obviously partisan line of questioning.

Well, today the Big Man has been at it again, claiming that you don’t win anything in October for going top of the league. A feat which Celtic have not achieved in a year, coincidentally. When prompted about the idea of going top of the league he was more than willing to engage in another bout of sarcasm with the journalist who asked the question.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
