Video: Another soft penalty at Ibrox as Greenock Morton exit the Cup

Well, ladies and gentlemen, some things may come and go, but whenever a new Scottish football season rolls around, you can always have faith that the footballing authorities and their officials will do everything in their power to dig the Ibrox club out of a hole. For today they got another… you guessed it… a soft penalty call.

Apparently Dougie Imrie’s side had been making the Ibrox faithful uncomfortable after taking the lead through a penalty of their own. So, in keeping with tradition and quelling the dissenting voices from the terraces, who are already a bit nervous with Mick Beale and his newest batch of unwanted items parading around in blue jerseys, the officials had no option but to help out.

The call was made when the VAR team alerted the referee to go and view the monitor in relation to a possible foul by ex-Rangers player Kirk Broadfoot on Leon Balogun. As you can see from the footage below….

Barely anyone appeared to even realise there was an incident but the referee still pointed to the spot. Not very convincing at all, Mr Dickinson.

Expect a lot more of this to come if Mick and his men a still struggling in the weeks and months ahead. There’s nothing like a helping hand from the boys in black to help Ibrox club’s new and old from keeping pace with the standard-bearer in Scottish football.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
