Video: “Callum was outstanding,” Ange Postecoglou at Lennoxtown

Here’s the first Celtic TV interview with the new Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou at Lennoxtown and he certainly seems to like the look of the place. The Australian also reckons that the warnings he’d been given about the Scottish weather have turned out to be unfounded. Give that one a few weeks Ange!

The new boss mentioned how impressed he was with Callum McGregor at Wembley last Friday and of course noted that the Celtic midfielder – surely Postecoglou’s choice of the next Celtic captain – was he Scotland goalscorer against Croatia, the only goal scored by Steve Clarke’s side.

“Callum was outstanding,” said the new Celtic manager said. “I watched the England v Scotland game live and he was great that night. He put in another great performance last night. I think all the lads will have had a positive experience.

“I know it didn’t end up being fantastic but just being part of a major tournament will leave them full of confidence. They’ll need a bit of a break now but I can’t wait to get them back here.

“The first thing is giving some of them a bit of a break because physically and emotionally they’ve been on a bit of a rollercoaster and it’s always good to have a little bit of a break. As soon as they’re ready to come back in it’ll be good to meet up with them and I’m sure they’ll be enthusiastic as anyone else to get going.”
