After an early opportunity for Arne Engels Celtic have fallen behind at McDiarmid Park against a St Johnstone side who have looked threatening in the opening stages of the top versus bottom in the Scottish Premiership.
Having given Celtic a warning moments before Daniels Balodis made no mistake with the Latvian international centre-half making a terrific near-post run from a free-kick and he gets there first to nod Saints into a shock lead.
Celtic look rather uncomfortable at the back with Cameron Carter-Vickers conceding possession needlessly to give the home side another shot at Sinisalo’s goals.
At the other end a Daizen Maeda effort was deflected along the goal-line and Nicolas Khun looked certain for a tap in somehow he dallied and Saints cleared. Hatate has also tested the Saints keeper but it remains 1-0 to St Johnstone after a quarter of an hour.
Come on Celtic!
