Callum McGregor was excellent in the midfield for Scotland. The Celtic star was recalled as Scotland battled to a point at Wembley but should have maybe left with more after leaving Gareth Southgate’s side devoid of ideas. McGregor, who is likely to become Celtic’s next captain, spoke so well after helping dominate the midfield alongside John McGinn and Billy Gilmour.
'We were a real threat in the game and we defended when we had to.'

Scotland’s fate is in their own hands with the game against Croatia on Tuesday now standing in their way between progression and elimination. McGregor starting certainly had a bearing on the result as Clarke knows that he can trust the player entirely.
McGregor will have known that new boss Ange Postecoglou and CEO Dom McKay were in attendance in London and now the 28-year-old should be looking to seal a new deal at Celtic to extend his stay and increase his status to top earner now Scott Brown has left.
Mcgregor was useless, didn’t make one forward run or pass in the whole game, hardly made a tackle, allowed opposition midfielders to run in behind him several times, nowhere near the player he was a few years back.
