Watch Celtic’s dramatic last gasp winner in the SWPL1 match this afternoon at theRangers training centre as Summer Green brilliantly slotted home a spot kick under intense pressure after the referee had pulled back a Celtic goal to award a penalty instead. With no advantage played it was all down to Summer Green and bhoy did she make no mistake as she lashed her shot high into the roof of theRangers net to give Celtic the three points and thus leapfrog the Ibrox side on goal difference.

Well done Summer Green!

Well done to the team at the Cynic for covering the game, alongside The Celtic Star they we the only Celtic sites to show the Women’s team ongoing respect by covering their games week by week and featuring interviews and coverage of the players. TheRangers have invested heavily in their squad this year, bringing in experienced international players and after winning their opening three matches they were regarded as favourites for the game today, where a win would have opened up a six point gap over Celtic. However Summer’s strike means that it’s Celtic who pick up the points and leapfrog theRangers in the table on goal difference.

A delighted Summer Green told Celtic TV: “Everyone is stoked. It is a crazy result, both teams fought to the end. I am super happy that we have came out with the win.”

More from today’s match winner and the Celtic manager Fran Alonso when we get it…

Celtic manager Fran Alonso also spoke to Celtic TV: “I am absolutely delighted,” he said. “I was fuming with the initial decision to not give the goal. We score, but it is called back for a penalty. I almost couldn’t even look.

These players are used to the pressure, so they so don’t feel it as much. Summer took the penalty well, back of the net which is what we want.”
