Celtic B fell to a 3-1 defeat against Championship side Greenock Morton in the Second Round of the SPFL Trust Trophy. Morton struck after just 16 mins after Garrity pounced on a poor clearance from Urhoghide at the back for McIntyre’s side. A big hump up the park gave ex-Hearts striker Robbie Muirhead the chance to make it 2-0 and he punished Celtic.
Ciaran Dickson, on his debut after signing from Rangers, pulled one back after a fumble from the Morton goalkeeper. Celtic had chances but couldn’t draw level despite hitting the woodwork and good goalkeeping. Liam Shaw looked particularly impressive in the middle for the Celtic B side.
Cameron Blues made it 3-1 after 66 mins and this would be the final score as Celtic once again couldn’t find the net again.
It is good exposure for the youngsters but they were beaten by an established Championship side and suffered the pitfalls of bad defending.
