Video: Joe Hart saves a penalty in friendly win

Joe Hart must have been hearing all the chatter amongst the supporters about a potential new goalkeeper coming in this summer transfer window. The Englishman has been the subject of much speculation as to whether or not he will still be Celtic number one for Brendan Rodgers come next season.

The club are actively looking at the goalkeeping position amongst others as has been widely reported by reliable sources. Amidst this knowledge coming to the mainstream, the Hoops have also been linked with a big-money move for Croatia international, Dominik Livakovic. It’s said they are monitoring his situation ahead of a potential move.

With this in mind, it’s remarkable that Joe saved a penalty today in out pre-season friendly match in Portugal against Portimonense. The Bhoys ran out comfortable 4-1 winners in the end but the fact that big Joe saved a penalty makes you wonder if he’s aware his position is under threat. He’s not renowned as a goalkeeper who saves penalties, so it is a turn up for the books this one today.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
