Video – ‘Kyogo is fine, he trained today,’ Ange Postecoglou

Kyogo Furuhashi has been spotted back in training this morning at the club’s Lennoxtown facility. The small Japanese striker took an awkward looking fall against St Mirren last weekend in the Scottish Cup Fifth Round tie at Parkhead and had to be taken off the field of play in what looked to be a concerning injury for him.

The Japan international has suffered from the same sort of injury in the past and has had his arm in a sling before after some hefty treatment from opposition parties. It seems to a regular thing now that the player is targeted by the opposing team in an attempt to stop him from playing or even sideline him.

Today, the Hoops media team posted images from the club’s training facilities up at Lennoxtown and Kyogo is training along with the rest of the gang. Ange Postecoglou is seen talking to the little forward too, no doubt asking him how he’s feeling ahead of joining back up with his teammates during today’s session.

It’s a welcome addition as the frontman has been on top form lately – scoring 22 goals in total, with 19 in the Scottish Premiership. He will be crucial to the Legaue title coming home this year along with the two domestic cups. We can get out hands on the first of those three next Sunday and hopefully Kyogo is fully mended and back in business by then.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
