Transfer Deadline Day continues to be one of the most pulsating days in the footballing calendar, no matter who you support – and Celtic fans across the world will be glued to their televisions tonight, as the Bhoys’ look to pull off two deals before the window slams shut at 11pm.
There is one obvious transfer which stands to be completed this afternoon, with Everton’s 23-year-old right back Jonjoe Kenny set to arrive on loan at some point this afternoon as per various outlets such as the BBC. According to Neil Lennon, the deal should be ‘signed and sealed’ by the deadline, with Kenny being a player that Lennon “has liked for a while.” Kenny, who has made eight appearances for Everton this season, is reportedly ‘itching to play’ for his boyhood club and could even make his debut in tomorrow nights’ game against Kilmarnock, given the departure of Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen for over £10mn.
Speaking to the press, Lennon said: “He’s a player I have liked for a while, he’s been at Everton and has had a very good England career at under-21 level. I also watched him quite a bit of him last season
when he was on loan at Schalke, he was playing in a struggling team but I quite liked his qualities, enthusiasm, his character and I think he’ll bring that to the team. He’s a bubbly personality and he plays that way as well.”
“I wouldn’t say he’s similar to (Jeremie) Frimpong because everyone is different but he’s a bona fide right-back who has come to try and make us better.”

He may not be like Frimpong, but if Kenny can replicate the form the Dutchman was capable of showing before his big-money move, then it will be smiles all round at Celtic Park.
