Video: Mark Wilson – Lennon won’t quit so Celtic board must act

Former Celtic full-back Mark Wilson spoke to Sky Sports outside Celtic Park this morning and reflected on his old manager and team-mate Neil Lennon’s position as the Celtic manager after last night’s disappointing 2-2 draw away to Livingston.

Celtic have now dropped six points from nine since returning from Dubai with the two draws against Livingston and the earlier draw against Hibs and with a dreadful run of form stretching back to August Neil Lennon finds his side out of Europe – with both Champions League and Europa League severe embarrassments endured by the support – out of the League Cup after losing at home to Ross County and most importantly out of the title race with the flag being gift wrapped for the Ibrox 2012 start-ups by unacceptable Celtic incompetence.

Wilson hosts The Celtic Huddle Podcast every week and invites his former Celtic teammates on and this week Stan Petrov who knows Neil Lennon very well told Neil Lennon that his time was up as Celtic manager. John Hartson had days before said the very same thing in another podcast.

The directors need to look at this as a matter of urgency. If season tickets are going to be renewed then the club need to listen to what just about everyone knows and accepts. It has not worked out for Neil Lennon this season – regardless of the reason, football remains a results business – and for the good of Celtic change is needed now.

Listen to what Mark Wilson I saying in the video below and ask yourself if you can find anything that you disagree with? Hopefully Peter Lawwell will have a listen and come to the same conclusion.

Neil Lennon is a Celtic legend and when all this is over and done and the dust settles that is how he will be regarded. But in the here and now it is time for him to step aside or be relieved of his duties forthwith. Peter Lawwell is paid a huge wage by the club to take these decisions and the support can take no more of this. Act now please.

  1. The longer NL stays the worse his legacy will be. He has shown himself to be gutless and stubborn in equal measure. If he had any thing in him he would leave before he is sacked. Where did his courage go from the last time he left?
