Video: Martin O’Neill’s hilarious interaction with 90s music sensation

Former Celtic boss Martin O’Neill is renowned for his sharp wit, deadpan delivery, and his abilities as a footballer and manager. There are not many better examples of O’Neill’s humour than in an exchange with popstar Robbie Williams.

The former Take That man appeared alongside O’Neill during a punditry gig at the World Cup in 1998 and was slaughtered by the Irishman.

Williams saw the funny side of the interaction even if it wasn’t clear whether MON was kidding on or not.

O’Neill excelled at Leicester City and won the League Cup there before taking the Celtic job in 2000. He led Celtic to three league titles, three Scottish Cups and a League Cup – and memorably all the way to the Uefa Cup Final in Seville in May 2003.

Following his departure from Celtic in 2005, O’Neill had successful spells with Aston Villa, Sunderland and Ireland. However his most recent role, a return to Forest, didn’t work out well.
