Video: Mikael Lustig Makes His Celtic Debut, On This Day 10 Years Ago

Ten years ago today, a Celtic hero was born as Mikael Lustig made his Celtic debut at Aberdeen. The Swedish international full back joined the Hoops from Rosenberg on a pre-contract arrangement. He would go on to win 16 major honours with the club, including three consecutive trebles.

Making his Celtic bow at Pittodrie, Lustig must have thought life in Paradise was easy when Anthony Stokes put the Bhoys 1-0 up inside 28 minutes. However, his opposite full back Andre Blackman scored an own goal before the break to level the game.

That’s the way the match ended as Celtic were made to settle for a draw.

Nevertheless, Celtic won the league title a month later – the first of eight titles in a row for Lustig at the club.

He became a fan favourite for his consistent performances and constant humorous antics on the pitch.

Lustig now plays for AIK in Sweden, having enjoyed a season at Gent. We wish him all the best and thank him for the way he took to Celtic and for all that he contributed here.
