Video – Moi talks about Albian as Elyounoussi makes Number 10 hint

Moi Elyounoussi has been speaking to Celtic TV about the latest £5m summer signing by Celtic – this time Swiss goalscorer Albian Ajeti who completed his move to the Scottish Champions late last week.

The two played together to great effect for FC Basel before each heading to the English Premier League, the Norwegian to Southampton and the new signing to West Ham. Neither move has turned out to be a success and both have found their way to Celtic Park – Elyounoussi for a second consecutive season long loan deal – Ajeti on a four year permanent contract – in the hope of ‘regaining confidence’ and together re-igniting their goalscoring exploits that made them Champions in Switzerland.

Albian Ajeti has been given the Number 10 jersey at Celtic but make no mistake, his role is as a goalscoring striker. However the significance of the Number 10 night lie with his former Basel teammate, who has told Celtic TV that during their time together in Switzerland he played in the Number 10 rile behind Ajeti and was about to provide double digit assists for the striker in additional to his own scoring exploits.

Elyounoussi had a decent pre-season but has struggled to make an impact in the 4-2-3-1 system used against both Hamilton (5-1) and Kilmarnock (1-1) in the two games Celtic have played. Ajeti’s arrival looks likely to signal an end to that formation as the preferred choice for Neil Lennon with the 3-5-2 – so effective at the start of this year in delivering Nine-in-a-Row set to be used.

Could that mean a move inside from the left for Elyounoussi to play behind Odsonne Edouard and Albian Ajeti?

He certainly is hinting at that in this interview with Celtic TV…
