Video – Neil Lennon’s Media Conference, Kris Ajer is fit after Jullien mix-up

Watch Neil Lennon’s Media Conference today ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Easter Road, below. Unfortunately the vast majority of the Celtic fans media is excluded from these media conferences with only really the excellent Cynic team being give ongoing access.

Yet it should be noted that their service is mostly behind a pay-wall and therefore their output is consumed by a very small percentage of the overall Celtic support. Therefore other than that, it’s a closed shop for the red tops and the rest of the mainstream media.

Indeed if Celtic had a close look at the audience figures for sites like The Celtic Star, Celts Are Here, Video Celts and The Celtic Blog then compared these to the reach of the mainstream media outlets to Celtic Supporters then they might get a better idea on what they’re missing out on.

We have to reply on other media reporting on what the Celtic manager and players say at these conferences and today an error was made, just a simple mistake, that led to the fans media believing that Kris Ajer wasn’t going to be ready to face Hibs tomorrow.

It turned out that the reporter thought that the manager’s answer was in relation to Jullien and not Ajer. Indeed the question was about Jullien but someone got it wrong and out it went. Celtic clarified, as indeed did The Celtic Star as soon as we’d just made the same error.

While we are denied access these problems are always going to be there. The club invited a number of website staff into their media facilities around a decade or so ago, yet this has never been updated even though the landscape has changed as some sites fall by the wayside and other emerge and attract very large worldwide audiences.

Celtic continually update the playing squad on a season by season basis and maybe they should have a look at the fans media in 2020 and not as it was in 2010 and before.
