Video: No VAR intervention as Reo Hatate goes down in box

Celtic may feel that they should have had a penalty in the first half of their clash with Ross County. The Scottish Champions are ahead thanks to a goal from Kyogo but could have had a penalty.

Adam Idah slid a pass through to Reo Hatate. The Japanese midfielder took a touch before appearing to collide with Campbell, which resulted in the player stumbling and falling. Matthew MacDermid paused by VAR refused to intervene, clearing the game to continue.

It would certainly have been a soft penalty but the contact does enough to put Hatate off balance. The referee may have benefited from another look at the incident but it wasn’t to be.

Celtic have had all of the ball but had to bide their time to get the breakthrough. Arne Engels flashed an effort over the bar. Alistair Johnston forced a good save out of Amissah while Adam Idah should have done better with the ball breaking to him after Kyogo’s shot deflected into the Irishman’s path.

The attacking duo linked up to force a point blank save from Amissah with his feet. The Japanese hitman will be disappointed that he didn’t get enough on the shot despite taking a good first touch.

It was Kyogo that scored – his 3rd goal in 25 away games. AJ flashed a brilliant cross into the striker’s path and his deft finish was enough to open the scoring.
