Video: Not enough is being made about this stunning Celtic goal

Not enough is being made about the absolutely stunning goal that Celtic’s classy Canadian forward Clarissa Larisey scored on Saturday afternoon in the first minute of Celtic’s 4-0 win over Hibs at Paradise on Saturday afternoon.

It was a fine occasion and the club will surely be heartened that Fran Alonso’s exciting side is now attracting thousands of supporters to a game at Celtic Park rather than the few hundred hardly souls who are there when the team play at Airdrie’s Penny Cars stadium.

The Player of the Match went to Jacynta although that was certainly a surprise to many who thought that Larisey was a certainly after leading the line brilliantly in the mysterious absence of Charlie Wellings and setting the tone for the day with her Goal of the Season contender on the opening minute. If you haven’t seen it you can watch below and then listen to Clarissa speaking in the Media Room at Celtic Park shortly after the final whistle. As you would expect The Celtic Star was there…

“I know how the men feel now, it must be great. I loved it, I really did,” Clarissa Larisey said shortly after the final whistle on Saturday afternoon after her outstanding performance in the 4-0 Celtic win over Hibs in the SWPL1 fixture played at a gloriously sunny Celtic Park.

Asked about her first minute goal setting the tone for the afternoon, the classy Canadian forward said: “I think at the beginning the whole team had the energy and I got lucky. I got the opportunity in front of the net and with a little placement that was it.

On being unlucky not to get at least one more goal Clarissa added: “Unlucky yes, but I’m very happy that we scored three other goals with three other goalscorers, it was amazing. Everyone deserved it, surely.”

“With a crowd like that, you don’t want to disappoint them. So putting everything on the field, as I said before setting the tone, this fifty fifty balls, we made sure we were on top of it and it was a good outcome.

On whetting the players appetite for more of the same, playing more games at Celtic Park in front of thousands of supporters: “100%, it would be an honour to play there again. It was an honour to play there with the Ghirls in the team and the squad. The players that came off the bench also brought so much energy which was needed as well, it’s a long game. But definitely we would love to play there again.

On the Hibs players showing their appreciation for the the support at the game despite the disappointment of the result, showing that that they too enjoyed their day playing in Paradise. “Who wouldn’t? That crowd was amazing, truly. I loved each and every one of them coming, we really appreciate them coming.

And on Saturday’s success being a message to the club to say ‘let’s do more of this’…”For sure,” Clarissa stated. Finally a question about what is perhaps one of the biggest games of the season for Celtic FC Women this coming Sunday when Fran Alonso takes his team up to Aberdeen for the Scottish Cup quarter final tie, having already knocked out theRangers in the previous round. A potential League Cup and Scottish Cup double beckons for the Ghirls.

“That game (against Hibs) is now behind us and we move forward. It’s a big game coming up as well and it’s against Aberdeen and it’s away so that’s just another game we are very excited for and we look forward to playing.”

Here are the other goals from Saturday…Olivia Chance makes it 2-0. Listen to the noise!

After a long range effort from Chloe Craig results in a corner, Jodie Bartle gets her head on the cross and she certainly enjoyed running over to the North Curve for her celebrations…

And Chloe Warrington picks the perfect place to score her first ever goal for the Celtic first team…
