Video: On this day, Bobby Lennox scores the winner against Rangers

It was on this day in 1974 that Celtic beat Rangers by a goal to nil in a home league match.

Former captain and manager, Jimmy McStay, had died two days earlier and thus the Celtic team wore black armbands in tribute to him.

A fantastic Celtic side dominated the game, but needed Lennox’s 27th minute strike to give the, victory. The result meant that Celtic went 9 points clear of Hibs at the top of the table.

Celtic lined up: Hunter, McGrain, Brogan, McCluskey, McNeill, Hay, Hood, Murray, Deans, Dalglish, Lennox Substitutes: Connelly, Johnstone
