Video – Rare Fan Footage Of 1972 Scottish Cup Final

British Pathe has a collection of old footage from some of the biggest games in British football history. This video, wrongly titled 1968, shows fan footage of the 1972 Scottish Cup final when Celtic demolished Hibernian 6-1.

Enjoy Various shots of the mass crowds watching the match at Hampden Park. Look out for two policemen escorting a youngster with long hair outside after some riotous disorder, a few glimpses of the match itself and even a brass band marching across the field!

Several guardsmen can be seen helping a woman seated on grass, taking her onto a stretcher as she is unwell. More shots of the brass band, wearing Scottish tartan, marching and playing to the onlooking crowd can then be seen as the players come out for the second half.

There is also a superb moment when a Celtic goal is celebrated and you can witness the cheering… flying flat caps galore.

The 9 minute long footage gives a great insight into what it was like watching Celtic back in the 70s.
