Stephen Welsh spoke to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to Ibrox to face Rangers in The Scottish Cup. The defender is enjoying an impressive personal season with Celtic, even if team performances have been poor. Welsh signed a new deal and is hoping that he can continue an impressive week by clinching a win at Ibrox.

Welsh first made his debut last season in a win over Hamilton but backed up an impressive debut with solid displays this season, where defensive stability was thin on the ground. Welsh will be hoping to kick on under a new boss, proving that Lennon was right to introduce him into the starting XI. Hopefully he will be able to kick on under a new manager but more importantly, he needs to be rock solid against Rangers at the weekend.
