Video – ‘They’re An Absolute Disgrace Of A Football Club’, Tom Boyd’s Celtic TV Rant

The Celtic Star took a look back at the Hoops’ title defining victory over ‘Rangers’, earlier today. The match, which took place on this day last year, put Celtic 13 points clear at the top and more or less completed eight in a row.

During the match Morelos was sent off for violent conduct against Scott Brown, whilst Ryan Kent escaped the same punishment for punching the skipper.

At full time, Steven Gerrard couldn’t even look at Neil Lennon as he shook hands with the victorious Celtic boss. Unsurprisingly, that ill discipline spilled over to his players on the pitch when Lustig’s shirt was ripped in a melee that ensued when Andy Halliday and his fellow perennial losers took umbrage at Scott Brown’s celebrations. The skipper was giving a bit back to a support who indulge in sectarian ditties as a matter of course and had recently mocked the death of his sister.

One wonders how hard it is to ignore a bit of excitement pointed in your direction, given that the likes of Ryan Kent have since performed mock shootings in front of the Celtic support without a ‘hold me back’ routine being performed or any instances of fans piling down on top of each other.

It’s well known that neither incarnation of Rangers take defeat well. The cup final battles of the 70s and 1980 riot, combined with the recent cup final won by Hibernian all had two common themes – violence and a team calling themselves Rangers losing.

Tom Boyd didn’t mince his words as the scenes unfolded.

“Andy Halliday loses the plot. What is it with the discipline of the team in blue? They just cannot control themselves, they’ve lost a game here, they’ve no honour walking off the pitch, they’re an absolute disgrace of a football club.”
