During the match last night, when Bayern Munich were chasing the Hoops deep into the second period of the game, the home team’s manager had an embarrassing moment caught on camera, when he tried to prevent another ball bouncing onto the pitch…

Munich had just won a throw-in and used one of the spare balls from the side of the field, but the previous one had started to make its way back onto the pitch when Vincent Kompany tried to remove it. Unfortunately for the Belgian, his efforts were in vain, as he succumbed to the slippery surface of the Allianz Arena in his regular footwear, ie a pair of trainers.

A funny moment in the game
It was rather a funny moment in the game and further emphasised the home team’s desperation to get things going against a very astute Celtic side. Brendan Rodgers’ men made life extremely difficult for the former Manchester City man’s new charges, as Munich simply had no answer for the majority of the match – struggling to match Celtic’s intensity and ability to control the ball effectively.

Celtic can take some satisfaction
The goal at the end more than flattered the Bundesliga giants and had it not been for lady luck being well and truly in their favour, would have fallen as flat as their manager had just beforehand. Celtic can take some satisfaction from the fact that we had one of the favourites for the tournament sweating until the very end in their own backyard. It will only serve us well for future European football.
Watch this though…
