As we celebrate another away win and another three points on the road to another cinch Premiership title this year, it wouldn’t have escaped anybody’s mind about just how awful VAR was again tonight. During the match, Carl Starfelt was assaulted by the Motherwell player Morris in what was a wild challenge.
Thankfully the Hoops defender recovered as he is only just back in the side recently after a hiatus from the first team. It seems it is common practice (or malpractice should we say), to allow Celtic players to targeted on the regular without any repucussions from the match officials.
David Turnbull was treated to the same delightful protection from the referee Don Robertson last year at Tannadice, when Callum Butcher off Dundee United tried to break the former Motherwell midfielder’s leg in an awful tackle that belonged in the 1980’s.
Now tonight our Starman was scythed down by a horrific foul that was equally dangerous to the Turnbull one and many more that have been happening with monotonous regularity to our playing staff. How David Dickinson in the VAR room never thought that merited a red card or have Willie Collum look at it is stupefying.
Have a look at this horror tackle…
