Video: Welcome to Paradise: Home of the Champions, but no mention of Jota

The official Celtic FC TikTok page has uploaded a short clip welcoming everyone to Paradise: ‘Home of the Champions’.

In this clip, after a suspenseful gaze at an empty Celtic Park, we see a small collage of joyful moments that took place in Paradise last season. Images of Sead Hakšabanović’s dancing celebrations; CalMac lifting the League Trophy; various celebrations and smiles from players who are clearly having a great time are all shown in this clip.

However, although playing a huge part in last seasons success, Jota doesn’t make an appearance in the small highlight reel that has been posted by Celtic. Whether this is on purpose isn’t exactly clear, as not every player is shown, but it certainly seems odd to reference last season’s success without any mention of Jota.

And in today’s Celtic TV exclusive interview with Brendan Rodgers the new Celtic manager makes no reference to the Portuguese superstar who left Celtic last week with the club receiving a transfer fee now believed to be £27m from Saudi side Al-Ittihad.  Celtic’s statement on the official club website was short but not really sweet either.

With the headline ‘Jota parts company with Celtic’ the 66 word statement, on the official Celtic FC website reads: ‘After two seasons with the club, one on loan from Benfica and one on a full contract, Portuguese winger, Jota has left Celtic to join Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ittihad.

In his time in the Hoops, Jota won two league titles as well as picking up winner’s medals in both the Scottish and League Cups. Everyone at Celtic Football Club wishes Jota success in his future career.’

Make of that what you will and hopefully the £27m is given to Brendan Rodgers to improve the squad in this summer’s transfer window ahead of the Champions League action getting underway in September.
