Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy gave a cringeworthy post match interview to Premier Sports after the defeat to Motherwell. The Fir Park side won 2-0 in a comfortable evening for the hosts in which Nancy’s side were exposed once again.
Speaking after the game, Nancy offered up a number of excuses but the reality was clear to see for Celtic supporters.

Celtic have now lost 5 games out of 7 since Nancy assumed controlled. The dramatic decline from the interim period of Martin O’Neill is alarming and it does not appear that things will improve. Rangers can actually go ahead of Celtic with a win on Saturday.

The most cringe thing for me is the fans response. Things were terrible under Brendan most of last season, this season the same, and whilst Martin ground out results, performances weren’t great. Wilfs decisions baffle me but Jesus man, we have to at least give the guy a chance to get some players in before we fully judge him.

i dont like being critical of the guy but hes came from Columbus Crewhere a draw is cool. A defeat no problem. And they play MLS in Summer heat & slow build up.

After those first 3 defeats I firmly wanted to give WN and the new system a chance.
After the next few results, and a win, it still wasn’t convincing. We’ve stumbled through all these games despite some open play that flatters to deceive.
Tonight’s performance suggests 2 things to me.
1. Nancy chopping and changing the squad selection from game to game is not about finding out what his January transfer needs are. He genuinely hasn’t worked out his players strengths and best 11. In 2 months. Despite the injuries, that’s unforgivable. The team look utterly lost out there. Devoid of leadership and direction. It’s chaos. He should have tweaked things slowly, immediately assessed the best squad based on the previous run of good results, and driven forwards from stability and confidence. He’s done none of those things.
2. Lost the dressing room? Lost the plot. If the Board were unwilling to back the previous boss, then how can they back Nancy? Roll the dice on a few medium to high value purchases and hope for the best? The team looked concussed tonight. A few signings is only half the battle. They need to decide if they are going all in or cutting their losses. I know what I would do.
That being said – if there was ever a time for somebody to prove the majority of us wrong, it’s the next game…
