As The Celtic Star reported some time ago, a group of Celtic fans based in Willie Maley’s birthplace of Newry (Co. Down) have formed a committee with the aim of erecting a statue in tribute to the Celtic legend.
Yesterday, the group held their first fundraising event, which was a huge success.

A number of our members along with other local supporters clubs got involved with a sponsored walk on Sunday 20th September on Newry Greenway. This was the first event organised by the Newry Willie Maley Memorial Group to raise funds for a statue to be built of Willie Maley here in Newry. We as a club are delighted to be involved with this group and look forward to many more of their upcoming events. Have a watch below to find out a little bit more!
