Video: Yogi With The Winner, On This Day

On this day in 1968, Celtic beat Motherwell at Fir Park courtesy of a solitary goal by John ‘Yogi’ Hughes.

Yogi’s goal came in the first half, but he also picked up an injury before the break and was subbed for Stevie Chalmers. Another injury to Bertie Auld halted Celtic’s momentum later in the game, as he had to play on due to the sub being used already.

Nevertheless, Jock Stein’s team held out for an invaluable victory.

The win put Celtic onto 37 points, six behind Rangers but the Hoops had two games in hand.
