Vuskovic left out of Hajduk squad as Celtic move nears, according to report

Mario Vuskovic was supposedly left out of the Hajduk Split squad yesterday as he is preparing for a move to Celtic. According to Croatian outlet Sportske, the 19-year-old was rested as he nears a £4.5m move to Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

Vuskovic was part of the Croatia side that knocked out England in the U21s Euros group stages and has most likely attracted interest from clubs around Europe, with Serie A side Torino said to have been extremely keen on launching a bid for the talented centre-back. However, Celtic are said to be in pole position to sign him due to the comprehensive package of around £12k-per-week as well as progression path that will certainly appeal to the player. By all accounts, the player is a confident, ball playing defender, Vuskovic would certainly suit Celtic’s style of play.

Celtic will likely have another bid from Norwich City this week for Kris Ajer and you would think that if a deal can be done for Ajer, Celtic will act quickly to sign Vuskovic. The club have already signed Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday but Vuskovic is seen as more of a first team ready player.

Whilst this is just speculation at this stage, a move for Vuskovic would certainly be impressive and if he was left out as a move to Glasgow nears, it would suggest that Celtic are not hanging about to complete their business like years gone by. Although, many will only really believe some transfer rumours when they see the player holding the scarf aloft at Paradise.
