“We are pushing hard”, Ange Postecoglou delivers transfer update

Ange Postecoglou has delivered a transfer update to the supporters, confirming that he and the club are trying to buy a few players. The Australian manager oversaw his second friendly, a 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic in Wales. Although, after the game, he was asked about the club’s plans to recruit players and he told The Sun that works was underway albeit it has been a tricky process so far.

“We are trying to get some players in and hopefully get some deals done. We need some players to come in because we lost a fair few from last year.

“It is not an easy process at the moment, but we are pushing hard and hopefully we will get some in the next few days.”

A number of players are said to be eyeing an exit from the club – namely Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie. However, no departures have been sanctioned but no incoming bar Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide have come into fruition. It might be the case of the same old excuses but supporters have been hoping that this regime would be different and strengthen as soon as they possibly could ahead of the European qualifiers.

“To be honest I am not as focused on outgoings as I am on incoming.

“Incoming is where my pure focus is at the moment. I can’t control who leaves, what I can control and push for is to bring people in.”

Celtic are said to be in talks with Brandon Soppy of Rennes having bid £4.2m for Carl Starfelt from Rubin Kazan. A number of names have been mentioned, including Mario Vuskovic, Erik Sviatchenko and Cameron Carter-Vickers as the manager looks to sign a number of defender ahead of the beginning of competitive action against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League qualifier on the 20th of July.
