“We could go for the kill,” says Ange after victory over Hibs

Ange Postecoglou has commended Celtic’s fitness following their 4-0 victory over Hibernian earlier tonight.

Celtic went on another scoring rampage in the League, with goals from Kyogo, a stunner from Maeda, and a double from Aaron Mooy.  Although Hibernian started off well and forced a few corners, once Celtic got into their stride Hibernian lost their momentum and started leaking goals.

An all-around spectacular performance from Celtic, which saw them firmly secure the three points and comfortably maintain their nine-point lead at the top of the table.

Ange spoke to BBC Sportsound, where he gave his thoughts on his squad’s performance…

“I am delighted for the lads. Credit to Hibs as they went for it and the crowd were also up for it. Both teams were going at it and we managed to stay really strong and the boys just work hard all the time irrespective of what the opposition are doing.”

“I think one part of the team that is underestimated is its fitness. We are the fittest team in this competition, and we want to bring that to every game.”

“I sensed that we could go for the kill in this match and the boys were up for it.”

With the Glasgow Derby quickly approaching, Celtic’s win at Easter Road puts the Bhoys in a strong position for the game, as well as sending out a clear warning. Especially since Celtic’s win tally in the Scottish Premiership now amounts to 18 out of 19 games, with the goals also quickly stacking.

Although Celtic have put themselves in a fantastic position in the build-up to the Glasgow Derby, Ange has made it clear that he isn’t getting ahead of himself, and that Celtic still have a lot of preparation to do before Monday’s clash.

“We are ready for every game. No individual game takes on more importance for us in terms of our preparation.”

“We know it is a significant game for our supporters and it is a significant game in the calendar for our league. It is a showcase game, and they are second and we are first. There are lots of different elements.”

“However, I can assure you we will put as much effort into our preparation for this game as we would for any other fixture.”
