Martin O’Neill addressed the backlash from Celtic supporters after they directed their frustration at the board in the wake of yesterday afternoon’s damaging 2-0 defeat to Dundee United…

Fans in the away end at Tannadice voiced their anger at full-time, with O’Neill’s men delivering a dismal performance in a 2-0 loss to Jim Goodwin’s bottom-six side.
The Tangerines were largely untroubled throughout, as the Hoops struggled to impose themselves and ultimately slipped further behind in the title race, remaining third behind Hearts and the Ibrox club.
Discontent among the support has been building for much of the season, with tensions over issues such as recruitment strategy, communication and the ongoing dispute involving Green Brigade and fan media bans.
That frustration boiled over following the team’s eighth league defeat – their worst tally in a single campaign since 1999/2000.
A number of senior figures, including chief executive Michael Nicholson, CFO Chris McKay and interim chairman Brian Wilson, were the focus of supporters’ anger.
Speaking post-match, the Celtic boss did not shy away from addressing the situation, acknowledging the scenes while noting that the unrest has been simmering for some time rather than being solely triggered by today’s result.

Speaking via BBC Sportsound, O’Neill said: “I mean, that’s nothing new. So you’re bringing up something here that has been there the minute that we don’t have a good result.”
“Of course, people resort to these particular things, right? Okay? And yeah, we disappointed an awful lot of people here today.”
“We disappointed the supporters who made their way here for a start. And secondly, I mean, we disappointed people who support us from a distance.”

Margin for error now is virtually zero for Celtic. They must win every single one of their remaining seven games to if they want to stand any chance of retain the title. Celtic could win all seven games but still lose the title if Hearts lose to Celtic but win their remaining six matches.

The bookmakers have Celtic as third favourites at this stage. Meanwhile the nasty men in the Celtic Boardroom continue with their pathetic bans on supporters and Celtic fan media.

There’s one podcast that every Celtic supporter must watch because it explains the situation at our club perfectly and it’s from a business of sport podcast with two well informed podcasters talking about the Scottish title race and the Celtic crisis of the board’s making. Have a listen below…
