We got rid of Kelly & Co – We can do it again with Celtic Board & Sons

The Celtic support got rid of Kelly & Co. We can do the same with Celtic Board & Sons…

Once upon a time our football club was being harmed from within by a group of self-serving shysters, men in suits who cared only about themselves. Charlatans who treated the supporters, the lifeblood of the club with nothing but sheer contempt.

That was back in the early to mid 1990, when Michael Kelly and his board room chums so nearly ran our club to the brink of extinction. Had it not been for fan intervention, aided by a knight in shining armour by the name of Fergus McCann, then it could possibly have been the end of Celtic football club as we know it.

Before anyone points it out, yes the situations are entirely different, I lived through it, I know the story. Our current custodians for all their faults, aren’t playing cat and mouse with our financial wellbeing, they are great business minds if anything, but as much as they have the club on a secure financial footing, they have consistently neglected it on the area that matters the most, and that is primarily on the park.

The old board didn’t buy good players at that time because they had no money. Today’s board hasn’t invested enough in the playing squad especially in 2025 despite having loads of money.

And much like the Kelly dynasty, the current lot are treating the supporters with utter contempt and disrespect, which was yet again perfectly illustrated in yesterday’s shambles of an AGM, and their recent treatment of the Celtic shareholders, the entire Celtic support in general and the Green Brigade in particular.

Our majority shareholder, and his band of merry men are so far removed from the ordinary every day supporter, they look upon us as nothing but mere subjects. We are their cash cow, nothing more. They factor in all sorts of contingencies – such as dropping into the Conference league as we heard from Dermot’s boy yesterday, but seem to take the support’s hard earned cash for granted.

It’s time we all pulled together, and put in motion a plan to force change and hopefully that is what is going to be discussed when the Celtic Fans Collective meets in Glasgow tomorrow night.

We’ve done it before, and I can see no reason why we can’t do it again.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy

About Author

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

  1. This idiotic mob rule mentality needs to STOP NOW before you destroy our club completely!
ACCEPT IT, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU’RE DOING!
You are just a bunch of protesters who “think” you know better than a board which has made us the successful club in Scottish football history!
So you want more! WE ALL DO! None more than the board in fact!
But thankfully the board has level headed businessmen in place who actually KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
Meanwhile, you only want to continue with your “mob rule”, instigated by the lies of Brendan Rodgers! Ironically, a man you all wanted to lynch as recently as 2019!
You have allowed him to get into your heads all because he wanted to settle a personal vendetta!
Like many of you today, Rodgers will never accept responsibility for his failings! Never accept responsibility for the fact it was HIM who blew the millions the board gave him!
    STOP BLAMING THE WRONG PEOPLE!
    Grow up and accept responsibility!
Consider the possibility YOU COULD ACTUALLY BE WRONG before you take this club the way the old extinct rangers went!
STOP BEHAVING LIKE SPOILED KIDS AND GET BACK BEHIND THIS CLUB!
Talk of taking over the club quite frankly sums up EXACTLY how unintelligent some of this group really are!

  2. Come off it now.

You are going too far. You have made your point.

The Board knows very well that players who can get us into and do well in Europe are a priority.

They have admitted they made serious mistakes.

As you say, financially, they have steered the club well.

The Board’s communication with the supporters has been extremely poor. This has to be changed.

Brendan Rodgers did not suffer any problem with the Board standing in the way of any transfer, as stated by Dermot Desmond in his comments after Brendan’s resignation and not questioned by Brendan Rodgers.

However, it’s the Board’s job to see that a successful transfer window always happens, along with the manager at the time.

Remember now that Brendan also messed up big time. Think about the players he let go. Especially the bhoy Oh. A centre forward, apparently not good enough. Now worth UPWARDS OF 30 MILLION.

He ruined Kyogo and was not interested in players he did not sign.

All hell has broken loose and that’s good. Very good. However, let’s not go too far. The point has been well made.

Let them get on with their job; if it all fails again, then resignations will have to happen.

Calm down with your attack on the Desmonds; Dermot has put a considerable amount of money into the Irish national team and Irish football in general.

Dermot has the highest number of shares at the club and as a result, has the biggest say. He is not the highest shareholder for the money. He is the highest shareholder because he damn well cares about Celtic.

You are all getting carried away with yourselves and dare I say it, rather enjoying it.

All this must be proving a stumbling block in the pursuit of a new manager. You are all loving it, so stop showing off!!!!!..

Let the Board do their job and the new manager, his. Let them get us through this season and see if they can turn things around.

If they can’t genuinely show that Europe is important, along with supporter communications, then it’s time for resignations.

You are in danger of losing support from the supporters. They are getting tired of all of this. So CALM down and see how things turn out.

You have made your point, now stop NAGGING

  3. I’ve been a fan for decades and a shareholder since the days of Fergus McCann.
I was at the AGM on Friday and the chanting mob do NOT represent me or any other supporter I know.
We wanted answers on the transfer shambles and how the board plan to improve on that and general communications.
We got none because they were shouted down. It was like a pub rammy and it was no way to behave in any meeting. The protesters spoiled it for everyone else. We are no further forward in terms of information, and several steps back.
This situation bears no comparison to the days of Kelly & White. The more they’re attacked the more this board will resist and they have plenty of ammo.
Finally the person who has let down Celtic the most has been Brendan Rodgers, not once but twice. There’s one millionaire who put nothing in and chose to stab everyone in the back – again.

  4. The Desmond statement was spot on, the Board & personnel running the club turn up for work, you lot roar abuse, shout your mouths off, light your pathetic flares & sing your sectarian bile, if this was your place of work the lot of you would be crying off reporting Bullying in the workplace. It has to stop, grow up & get wise to what you’s as a collective are doing to the club, You are the CANCER slowly ruining our Heritage, Who is going to come as your new saviours if the Desmonds disappear ?? A corporate bunch of Yanks or a Craig White !! Be careful what you wish for & smell the coffee, you have been warned !!!
