There has been a call this week for Celtic supporters to add extra colour to Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final by kitting out the entire Celtic support in hoops to make the noisy half of Hampden a sea of green and white.

The North Curve are one of several fan groups who have being doing their best to encourage the Celtic support to descend on the national stadium sporting the traditional colours of our illustrious football club. That’s each and every one of us lucky enough to have got themselves a ticket.

Celtic’s green and white hoops are iconic and recognised the world over

The Green and white hoops is synonymous with our club, it’s our identity. It’s our colours and has been since they were first introduced away back in 1903 and it’s all we’ve ever known. The iconic achievement in our club’s history is accompanied by a figure in a hooped jersey and no matter the era it’s still a striking and beautiful image.

There can be no better sight than green and white hoops and on Saturday we should all wear our colours and wear them with pride as we cheer on our side as they go all out to win the Scottish Cup and to complete a world record ninth treble for the club. Remember when they used to say that they relish the chase? LOL lurkers!

The Hoops are our identity as a club and as a support

When Celtic play away from home in Europe commercial reasons mean that our second or third kits are worn. I always feel that is missing a trick as the Celtic green and white hoops are an iconic sight known in world football.

The dark green or yellow change kits are fine – we even had a pink one – but the truth could be colours used by many clubs. When you see the hoops you can only think of Celtic. That’s our identity, and it’s famous, iconic and world famous. Anyway, this is our city and these are our colours, let’s show the watching world that Glasgow is very much green and white and that Celtic is the finest team in Scotland.

Brendan also wants Celtic noise. Lots of it. We’ll see what we can do boss!
