We’ll be there to give The Bhoys a Cheer – Celtic fans snap up tickets for Ibrox next Sunday

It is likely to have taken a great deal of negotiations behind the scenes, however, Celtic have today confirmed they will be selling away tickets for the Hoops visit to Ibrox on 3 April – and the club have also confirmed those tickets will be allocated to those supporters who missed out on the scheduled away visit to Ibrox in March 2020, which was cancelled after football was halted due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Seems a fair solution to distribution that one.

‘Tickets for away match v. Rangers are now on sale to eligible STHTickets have been allocated to those STH who were originally offered tickets for the match v. Rangers on 15th March 2020 which was cancelled. Tickets are priced £52

‘Tickets can be purchased online. Booking fees apply online. The deadline to purchase is 2pm on Monday, 28th March.’

The initial issue surrounding this season’s allocation of tickets occurred after Celtic advised the Ibrox club they were willing to match the allocation supplied for the return fixture – initially scheduled to be played on 2 January – however, they could not guarantee those tickets, and instead advised the allocation would be honoured as long as any Scottish Government Covid restrictions didn’t get in the way.

With theRangers unsatisfied at what was not only a fair and reasonable response, but also proved necessary, when Covid did indeed impact on the fixture schedule and the game was moved back to 2 February, theRangers decided to go ahead with the August fixture in front of their own fans only. Celtic in turn responded by doing the same for the recent 3-0 ‘skelping at Celtic Park.

Now it appears Celtic have accepted an allocation of some 700 tickets, despite their preference being for 2500, the same amount theRangers allocate to away fans for European ties.

And The Celtic Star has managed to get our hands on a ticket for Ibrox next Sunday so we’ll be able to report from inside the small away section, hopefully on a signifiant victory that will be highly important in determining the destination of the title for this season.

As a Bellshill Bhoy I was taken to my first Celtic game in the summer of 1987. It was Billy McNeill’s return to Celtic Park as manager and Celtic lost 5-1 to Arsenal . I thought I was a jinx, I think my Grandfather might have thought the same. It was the finest gift anyone ever gave me when he walked me through Parkhead's gates.
