‘What On Earth Are You Thinking About, Brendan?’ David Potter

What On Earth Are You Thinking About, Brendan?

“Shattered” hardly covers the feelings of the Celtic support today. There are clearly things that we don’t know about what is going on, and we never will get to know the whole truth, but a man, hero-worshipped by the whole Celtic support (of which he claims to be a member) and on the brink of a possibly unsurpassable “treble treble” to abandon Celtic at the end of February with only 14 games left to go in the season, frankly, defies belief or analysis.

Brendan, you are turning your back on Celtic!

In favour of Leicester City!

What on earth do you think you are going to win with them?

It seems to me to be a gut reaction to the European exit of last week. The support sympathise with his feelings on this one, but surely to answer is to stay and fight.

Yes, we need to buy in the summer in the way that we didn’t last summer, and yes, the Board are not 100% blameless either, but this is Celtic, where I always thought that we stuck together – manager, Directors, fans, players, Green Brigade and all.

Don’t the songs sung by your fans about “10 in a row” mean anything to you?

So where are we now?

Rumour has it that Neil Lennon may be on his way back, and that may not be the worst scenario, for Neil is still loved by the Parkhead faithful, but how are the players going to react?

They will now play their two season defining games in Edinburgh in a state of shock. This cannot be easy for them. Just what on earth are you thinking about, Brendan?

I presume you care… do you?
