‘When key decisions went against us, we showed our mettle’

Ange Postecolgou reckoned that was some game of football yesterday afternoon as Celtic came away with all three points in a game that swung both ways and was marred by horrendous presumably biased refereeing and VAR decisions. Here’s what the Celtic manager was saying to Celtic TV afterwards with some supporter comments follwing that.

“It was a cracking end-to-end game and that’s what football’s all about. You’d like to control every game you play but that’s never going to happen.

“There was a bit of theatre there with VAR that some seemed to enjoy, but overall, what pleased me was, again, the players that character and resilience that we know that’s within them to find a way to win.

“It was pretty hectic, and once VAR gets involved, the theatre comes along with it,” Ange said. “As I’ve said, I’d much rather it didn’t get involved too much and it was left to the referee and just make the key decisions and make them quickly. But it is what it is, it’s here now.

“But what was important for us is that we didn’t get distracted by the noise and the theatre of everything that was happening, and we just tried to focus on our football and staying disciplined.

“We had to do that today because it would have been easy to get distracted by everything else that was going on, but the players maintained their discipline.”

Some comments on what Ange Postecoglou had to say after the 4-3 win at Tynecastle…

“One of the best games of football I’ve ever seen. End to end stuff with lots of drama. Couldn’t believe we didn’t get a penalty from VAR for that handball. Big Ange and Robbie Neilson take a bow you just demonstrated how good the Scottish premiership is and why we deserve to represent Scotland in Europe.”

““I’d much rather win 4-3 than 1-0 …” This one line tells you everything about this man’s philosophy, and also everything about inducing heart attacks to the club’s fans! But I’d much rather be on the edge of my seat for 90 mins and all the memories that are forged from this all out approach, than be comatosed trying to park the bloody bus “depending on who we’re playing …”. All out and never stopping!”

“Really dug deep today. Brilliant from this team once again.”

The players could easily have given up today. But when key decisions went against us, we showed our mettle. Fantastic result.”

“The Celtic players now know not to depend on fair refereeing or VAR , they’ll just have to keep banging in the goals.”

“Huge result in spite of despicable officiating. It’s already clear VAR will be manipulated against Celtic at every opportunity by our ‘impartial’ officials. Absolutely shocking and corrupt. We were up against Hearts, the referee, his linesmen AND VAR today. Something needs to be done about this. Well done Bhoys, proud of you!”

  1. Speaking of decisions that went against us. Has anyone noticed how many free kicks they were given in the six minutes of extra time so they could lump the ball into our penalty box ?Answer SIX ! we got ONE. that’s one every minute.
