“Every game is a learning opportunity, long season ahead and we will continue to grow,” Olivia Chance tweeted this evening reflecting on today’s 2-2 draw against Spartans. “Good fight till the end from the girls to secure a point,” the New Zealand international added. “Now off to Canada to join up with the Fernies.”

Livi Chance isn’t the only player now heading out on international duty. Celtic keeper Rachel Johnstone and winger Tegan Bowie are heading to Holland to represent Scotland at Under 19 level in a match against The Netherlands.
That means that there’s now a break in the action for Fran Alonso’s Celtic side. The other SWPL1 match today – Glasgow City versus theRangers ended in a 1-1 draw which was probably the result that Celtic wanted ie with both title rivals dropping two points each.
If that result went our way our own match most certainly did not. After taking the lead through Tegan Bowie Celtic went in at the interval trailing 2-1, losing two avoidable goals to a team that Glasgow City and theRangers both beat comfortably. It was heading to a defeat despite intense second half pressure from Celtic, with the woodwork struck on a couple of occasions. It was not looking good deep into stoppage time, until Charlie Wellings got her first sniff of goal and the outcome to that one earned Celtic a point.
Izzy Atkinson could have won it in the 96th minute when through on the keeper but frustratingly her shot was saved. Had that chance fallen to Wellings the outcome would have been different.
Here’s Fran Alonso’s take on today’s action…
