‘Worst ever Celtic team to win the league’ dominates PFA Scotland Team of the Year

Six Celtic players have been named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year, yes and we know exactly what you are thinking, only six!

Well Joe Hart has the best record between the sticks in terms of shut-outs, goals conceded and his contribution to the style of play that has put Celtic on top of the league, looking down on theRangers has been significant to say the least. He misses out in favour of the former Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon who has admittedly had a good season at Hearts and is hopefully going to collect another Scottish Cup winners medal to add to his significant collection won while playing for Celtic.

Still Hart should be in the team so you’re perfectly correct it should be seven and counting.

Now for Football Scotland – a sister operation from the owners of Daily Record – it’s all got a bit too much and they have already reduced this Team of the Year eleven to a man down with Celtic’s Josip Juranovic missing in their despatches today, perhaps he’s had a red card from John Beaton who incidentally will have the whistle at Celtic Park this Sunday.

Juranovic is in the side despite his omission from Football Scotland but the Celtic first pick right back is joined by Scottish football’s king of penalties James Tavernier, one will be collecting a title winning medal and later in the year heading to the World Cup.

With two right backs named presumably that means Juranovic switches to the left hand side of the defence, thus denying Greg Taylor his place. The Celtic left back is in the form of his life at the moment and is surely the best left back in Scottish football at the moment so is unlucky to miss out.

In the central defence the PFA Scotland selection goes to Cameron Carter-Vickers, as you would expect, and Ibrox bound John Souttar who earned his move after that nasty nipping assault on Kyogo that created a narrative that the Japanese superstar had dived. Okay, I’ll swap you Carl Starfelt for John Souttar! Any takers? Didn’t think so.

Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic are both in the side, both have earned long term respect amongst their peers and presumably within a 4-4-2 formation Jota is also included as is Ross County’s Regan Charles-Cook who admittedly has been a stand-out for the Highland side.

Other than the penalty taker where are theRangers players? They don’t appear to be very highly rated do they!

So to the front two and of course Kyogo is there, would have been a shoe-in for the Player of the Year too had he not got injured on Boxing Day and missed a fair chunk of the season. The other place is given too Morelos, mostly because Giakoumakis was late in getting started due to early season injuries. There’s always next year big man.

All this is confusing though because that’s six Celtic players selected by their fellow professionals and only two from theRangers who can’t even beat Hearts in this one, yet this is supposed to be the worst Celtic team ever to win the League. Watch this…

For any Zombie lurking fans of the behind closed doors One Season Wonders can we suggestion a wee amendment to one of your songs: “No-one RATES us we don’t care”….

These guys are highly recommended….brilliant service for a great price.
