Yosuke Ideguchi is wanted back home, but does he still have a future at Celtic?

Yosuke Ideguchi remember him? The Japanese midfielder signed by Ange Postecoglou in January 2022 along with fellow countrymen Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda. While both Reo and Daizen have become vital players in the side, Yousuke has become something of a forgotten man.

Injury didn’t help his cause and after finding a first team place hard to come by he headed back home to Japan joining J league side Avispa Fukuoka on loan. Yosuke has been highly influential in his time back in Japan helping his temporary side win the Japanese league cup and they currently sit in seventh place in the J league.

My fellow Celtic star writer Yatao yesterday wrote a wonderful article on Yosuke’s brilliant campaign which has seen him nominated for J league player of the year, and talk of a potential international call up has also been touted.

Avispa not surprisingly want to make Yosuke’s move permanent, and have apparently have started negotiations with Celtic to make his move permanent. Will Celtic want to sell? And more importantly does Brendan want a closer look at the player?

He’s the sort of player we are crying out for in the middle of the park judging by his displays in Japan. So does Yosuke have a future at the club, and can he bring us something that we are currently missing? Maybe but with the Celtic manager seeking to reduce the overall squad size Yosuke may well have missed his chance at Celtic and could be one of the players that Brendan moves on in the summer.

The thug at Alloa who injured Ideguchi on his debut has a lot to answer for.
