Yosuke Ideguchi on Postecoglou: “I’m excited to be able to join his team”

New Celtic signing, Yosuke Ideguchi wants to be known as ‘Guchi’, and the 25-year-old, who has joined the club from Gamba Osaka on a four-and-half-year contract, is hoping to add further style to an already eye-catching Hoops midfield…

Celtic today officially welcomed the second of our three new signings of the January transfer when Yosuke Ideguchi – who wants to be called Guchi – was formally introduced in customary ‘welcome to Celtic’ interview with Celtic TV.

Guchi joins Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate as the three new Celtic signings from the J-League who will team up with Kyogo Furuhashi in what is looking like a very exciting Celtic side. And just like Daizen Maeda yesterday, Guchi himself seems very proud at joining Celtic and is as excited as everyone in the Celtic Support about what lies ahead of us.

Speaking to Celtic View Editor Paul Cuddihy via a translator Guchi said: “When I was in Japan, I watched his team and I was interested in the style, so I’m excited to be able to join his team. I’ve spoken to the manager and he said that he’s looking for me bring my style of play to the team.

Yosuke Ideguchi sees it as a benefit to him having two other players from the J-League arriving at Celtic at the same time and is also full of praise for how well Kyogo has done as the first arrival from Japan during the summer. “It certainly helps me in joining Celtic to have Daizen and Reo here are well, and I’m hoping to contribute to the team along with them,” he said.

“Kyogo is already contributing to the team,” Guchi said, “so, like Kyogo, I want to be able to contribute to the team, although our playing styles are different. How Kyogo is playing is already big news in Japan. I respect him and I’m really looking forward to playing with him, along with my other team-mates.”

Meanwhile watch Liam Kelly’s latest video for The Celtic Star’s new You Tube channel which has been posted this evening. Liam gets on record the events of the past few weeks as the Government imposed restrictions on crowd numbers reduced maximum attendances to just 500 fans. How the twelve clubs in the cinch Premiership reacted and indeed voted is considered as is theRangers bizarre claims about  “Sporting Integrity” made by their rather deranged goalkeeper who of course walked away as a free agent from Ibrox after the old club ceased to exist and was replaced by the Charles Green start-up.

Liam looks at the reasons why the clubs voted as they did that led to the postponement of the match initially scheduled for today at Celtic Park against theRangers. This match has now been re-arranged for 2 February but could well be called off again as so many Celtic players could be called up for international duty for the various World Cup qualifiers.
