You can only play what’s in front of you and Celtic does it brilliantly

You can only play what’s in front of you, and Celtic does it extremely well. Better than all the rest as their own song goes. So why can’t they just give us credit we deserve?

In the murky waters that is social media you will encounter the delusional mind of a theRangers supporter more often than not, that’s a certainty.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a welcome entertainment sometimes, especially when they’ve just suffered a setback, such as the humiliating home defeat to mid-table championship side Queen’s Park which made for terrific scrolling for those on social media platforms. Yesterday’s was probably the worst result in their entire 13 year history.

In the midst of all that pain you always find one comment that sticks out, and for me yesterday it was one account who reckoned his side not only ‘handed’ a treble to Celtic, but to a poor Celtic side to boot.

That’s an assumption that’s been made by more than a few members of the Ibrox fan-base throughout the years, and they couldn’t be more wrong.

Is theRangers a poor side? Yeah they are, although next week they could be the best side in Europe so who really knows. One week they profess to having the best goalkeeper, top defender, must creative midfielder, and most lethal striker in the country. The next they are the worst Ibrox side in living memory. The mind boggles.

Anyway rant over! The fact of the matter is that Celtic this campaign just like the overwhelming majority of the last decade or two have proven beyond doubt that they are indeed the best side in the country. And if they’re honest with themselves they’d admit that it is not even close.

It’s not our fault others aren’t up to the task. We can only play what’s in front of us. That challenge laid before us is the very same challenge the Ibrox club faces year in year out. We rise to it nine times out of 10. They need a global pandemic to win the league and they only happen once in a lifetime.

The difference is that Celtic are good at this game, on and off the park and theRangers well, aren’t. It’s that simple.
