Youngster confirms new club after Celtic departure

DANIEL CHURCH has been signed by Jim Duffy’s Dumbarton FC after leaving Celtic earlier this year. The 20-year-old’s 13 year association with Celtic ended when his contract ended and he left the club in the summer. Now, he has been signed for the League 1 side.

Church spent last season on loan at East Fife in League 1 making 12 appearances. Despite spending a huge chunk of his life at the club, Church never made a competitive appearance for the Scottish Champions. Although on the final day of the 2018/19 season, he was an unused substitute against Heart of Midlothian.

Church posted on his Twitter, confirming that he was looking forward to get back to playing as he signs a short term deal with Duffy’s team. They play Kilmarnock in the League Cup tomorrow and he will be hoping for an instant impact.

Hopefully Church will settle into life with Dumbarton and good luck to him.

Another youth graduate that left the club was Jack Aitchison, who departed for Barnsley. The club reached a point where they couldn’t offer players a real path to the first team with the success of Celtic over the years.
