31-goal striker considering Celtic offer, according to report

Charlie Wyke is reportedly considering an offer from Celtic among other clubs as he looks to seal a move away from The Stadium of Light this summer. Wyke, 28, was in terrific form for the Black Cats but could not help Sunderland end their stay in League One. Now, the Nottingham Post is reporting that Wyke is considering offers from Nottingam Forest, Cardiff City, Middlesbrough and Millwall as he looks to sort out his future.

The 6’2 striker has scored 25 goals this season is excellent in the air and is out of contract this summer so is available on a free transfer. Celtic are in need of striking options with Odsonne Edouard set to seal a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City. Leigh Griffiths’ status for next season is unknown whilst Albian Ajeti looks to be the only player left to play in attack with Vakoun Bayo likely to leave as well.

Wyke would offer something different in attack and as he is avaliable on a free could be worth a punt. Celtic’s recruitment this summer needs to be impeccable. It needs to address key shortfalls in the squad and bring the standard up across the playing staff.

Wyke may not be the answer but it looks as if Celtic are still conducting business behind the scenes even if there is no Director of Football or manager in place. Ange Postecoglou is expected to be announced in the coming days and the Australian has a sizeable task on his hands.
