9IAR Latest – Celtic to Stand Up and Play the Games as Italians set to play Behind Closed doors

THE ITALIAN Football Federation hopes to test players for coronavirus early in May in preparation for their season to resume and be played out to a finish. And with similar positive messages coming from Germany today, the provides fresh hope that the Scottish Premiership and English Premier League can be played to a finish over the next three months.

That would allow both Celtic and Liverpool to win their leagues on the park and not be open to all the nonsense that has been thrown at both clubs from the bad losers in second place – oh wait a moment, Manchester City and their supporters have been gracious and sporting throughout and have always argued that it’s Liverpool’s title if the season has to be called to a premature close as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Classy.

Compare and contrast with the absolutely disgraceful behaviour from the current Ibrox club! The man in the photograph below supplies Celtic with our team bus. Yesterday we asked you to vote on whether Celtic should continue to work with Parks of Hamilton. Well over 5000 supporters have voted so far. Serie A has been suspended since 9 March because of the global pandemic. There is no set date for when the campaign can resume in Italy, with 12 full rounds and four outstanding fixtures still to play.

“As soon as the conditions are right, we’ll finish the championship,” the Italian federation president Gabriele Gravina said. Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, as reported by the BBC, he added: “Soon, there will be a meeting. We will establish the procedure which we will then communicate.

“We will start, I hope, at the beginning of May with tests to ensure that players are negative and training can follow.

“Will we play through the summer? We don’t have a deadline but the idea is to finish the championships.”

Italy has been one of the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus crisis, and players at a number of clubs have been infected. Juventus lead the Italian top flight, one point ahead of Lazio – who Celtic defeated home and away in the Europa League this season – and nine clear of third-placed Inter Milan.

German teams became the first from Europe’s top leagues to return to training, with precautions in place.

The last few days has seen the Rangers launch their last ditch ‘Battle of the Bulge’ type assault to salvage their doomed season through Operation Null and Void. That cunning plan hit the rails when an email from Dundee failed to show up at the SPFL offices on Friday afternoon and this resulted in the Easter weekend descending into claims, and counter claims, statements galore and one or two conspiracy theories that require investigating.

What is clear is that Celtic’s position is that they would prefer that the games be played. It wasn’t looking likely over the weekend but with both Italy and Germany, with perhaps Spain set to follow, all looking like attempting to get the season done on the park (and behind closed doors), then there is a possibility that this is how Celtic will end up winning the league.

And do you know what, we might need to win it behind closed doors with the supporters glued to the television at home, but it would possibly be the sweetest title of the lot. COYBIG!
