“It was nice to keep Ibrox quiet. It was an awesome experience,” Gustaf Lagerbielke

Celtic’s Swedish defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has been talking about his experiences at the club since his move from Elfsborg to the Scottish Champions. And after two disappointing results against Kilmarnock and St Johnstone, he played his part at the weekend in securing his first victory in a Celtic shirt and of course there is no better place to get the win that at the home pf your fiercest rivals.

Lagerbielke was involved in the game’s biggest talking point after he was fouled by Cyriel Dessers ahead of Kemar Roofe hammering the ball into the Celtic net. After a VAR review the goal was correctly disallowed for a foul in Lagerbielke and the decision was yesterday supported by the Rangers Review website as they looked at the key moments in the match.

The correct cal was made,” Rangers Review concluded, bursting the bubble of their own supporters who are up in arms at not getting all the refereeing decisions their way as is usually the case.

Lagerbielke is currently away with the Sweden national side where he has had a chance to catch up with Carl Starfelt, the man he replaced at Celtic and apparently he’s even viewed Starfelt’s flat in the city as he looks to get his own place in Glasgow’.

Sweden have two Euro2024 qualifiers in Tallinn against Estonia and in Stockholm against Austria so Lagerbielke could get his first cap to round off a memorable few weeks and he’s got the Champions League to look forward to when he’s back at Celtic.

“We had two tough results going into the derby against (the)Rangers. So it was a very important win and there was a lot of emotion after the game,” Lagerbielke told the Swedish media, as reported by Daily Record.

“It was nice to keep Ibrox quiet. It was an awesome experience. I had been given a little warning about what it would be like, but it was kind of cooler than I thought.

“It was very important that we won. To be called up for Sweden was a dream come true for me. It’s been so intense since I moved and this is the latest chapter. I’ve just got to go with the flow.

“And of course, we also have the Champions League to look forward to. The draw was a bit surreal. I had to pinch myself that I was sitting at Celtic Park watching the Champions League draw. In fact, it’s probably the only time I’ve been nervous so far at Celtic!

“But it will be fun to play in the Champions League. We play against three good teams with fantastic stadiums and fans. There will be six tough matches with an incredible setting for them all.

“It’s been great at Celtic so far. The guys in the team and the management team have been very welcoming and it’s nice to be able to start playing straight away. It has been very educational.

“I even viewed Carl Starfelt’s old flat in Glasgow, but it was too nice for me! But I did talk to him in the camp this week and it was nice to share his experiences. We hadn’t actually met before the gathering here so it was fun to talk.”
