Celtic have offered Rocco Vata a long-term contract. The 18-year-old was named on the bench at the weekend and featured in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round win, scoring after replacing Kyogo up front.
The Irishman has scored one goal in five first-team appearances with his strike coming against the Highland League side. Football Scotland report that there is a contract offer on the table and the club and player’s representatives are continuing discussions.
Vata has 18 appearances for Celtic B this season as well as an impressive haul of 11 goals to his name. However, he has made just four appearances for the First Team in his time with the club. Bologna and Coma are still hoping that they can convince the player to swap Glasgow for Italy; however, the negotiations with Celtic are still ongoing.
Vata joined CAA Base Agency in the summer, which indicated that he would be likely to move on in the summer but no deal was forthcoming leaving him to be deployed in the Lowland Leagues by Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea. Maybe, if he is to sign a new contract, we will see him being utilised more in and around the first team or making a loan switch – like Ben Summers, Bosun Lawal and other B Team stars have.
