Celtic legend James Forrest spoke to The Celtic Star at yesterday’s fan media conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Pittodrie…

Firstly, what an honour it is to speak to the club’s most decorated player. I’ve been fortunate enough to interview James a few times now and he is the most self-deprecating, humble footballer I have ever came across. And that is even when the cameras are off.
This is a man who has won 26 trophies for his boyhood club. He is getting better with age. I think us as supporters now appreciate how quality a player Jamesy is. The reception he now gets when he plays or comes on at Celtic Park always makes me smile. Because he deserves it.
It makes me proud to have guys like James and Callum represent the club on and off the pitch week in, week out. We cannot ask for better ambassadors. Celtic had invited all fan media outlets participating to come along to Celtic Park yesterday afternoon for the player’s media conference ahead of the game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.

Usually the player conference happens on a Friday at Lennoxtown, usually before the manager’s conference or as was the case last weekend with Alistair Johnston, after Brendan Rodgers spoke to the media including our own editor at The Celtic Star.
So for some clarity the fan media outlets who turned up yesterday to speak to the player (you don’t know who it is in advance) are listed below.
So at yesterday’s media conference The Celtic Star was joined alongside ACSOM, The Celtic Exchange, CeltsAreHere and Alternative View, so that’s five Celtic fan media outlets participating.

Here are the questions Conor Spence from The Celtic Star asked Celtic legend James Forrest and Jamesy’s answers…
The Celtic Star: How was that for you on Sunday? Flag day is always a special day, and you made a real impact when you came on as well.
James Forrest: “No, as you said, flag day here, you get dropped off the bus at the bottom of the hill and you walk up and you see the amount of fans, the atmosphere is great and as I have said St Mirren came and made it hard for us. We knew they would, but the most important thing is we stuck together, and we went right to the end, and we get that goal. So, as I have said it’s a good start and we have to take that momentum into the weekend.”

The Celtic Star: How has it been to reunite with a friend and a teammate Kieran Tierney? Has it almost felt like he has never been away?
James Forrest: “Aye, definitely. I think he maybe only knew a couple of the players but quite a lot of the staff are here from the first time and obviously boys have played with him at Scotland as well, so it’s a real great addition on the park and off the park as well. He knows everything to do with Celtic and it’s great to have him back.”

The Celtic Star: Looking ahead to Sunday, does that hurt still linger within the squad from the Scottish Cup final and will you be using that as motivation?
James Forrest: “Obviously no-one wants to lose a cup final. It’s not a great way to finish the end of the season but we have played Aberdeen for years, we know it’s going to be a tricky game up there, but the focus is we have started the season with three points, and we go up there trying to get another three points.”
