Hamilton’s Substitute’s Extra Special Moment in Celtic’s Glory Night

REMEMBER what you were doing on about ten past nine on Wednesday 7 November 2012? Well Hamilton’s substitute yesterday certainly knows what he was doing.

Fraser Forster acted fast to sent a long ball down the park, this seemed to take to visitors by surprise and a young Celtic substitute showed tremendous composure to steady himself before firing his shot into the far corner of the net to double Celtic’s lead.

The teenage goalscorer than ran over to the corner of the Jock Stein and North Stand and celebrated with a young ball ball, Ciaran McKenna, who came on for Hamilton yesterday as they chased the game to try to get a point after James Forrest had fired Celtic into the lead in the opening exchanges.

Ciaran was a member of the Celtic Academy and actually turned down a three year contract at the club in favour of going to University in the States. He accepted a scholarship at Duke University where in his three years there he made 42 appearances for the Duke Blue Devils, where he scored two goals.

In 2017 he played for Jacksonville Armada’s Under 23 side in the National Premier Soccer League. He signed for Falkirk in January 2019, making 17 appearances before signing for Hamilton in June.
