Jeremie Frimpong sends out defiant message following injury

Jeremie Frimpong’s rise at Celtic has been meteoric. When the Dutch youngster was signed from Manchester City in the summer, he was not expected to come anywhere near the first-team. A few months on and the 19-year-old is the first choice right-back at Parkhead.

That is the reason his injury will hurt the Celtic fans all that more. In his short time at the club, he has become very popular with the Hoops supporters. And it is a shame that someone so talented is likely to spend significant time on the sidelines so early in his career. But the youngster has posted a defiant message on his Instagram which might be a good sign.

The game was done and dusted when the incident took place. With Celtic leading 3-1 away at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock’s Alan Power decided to clatter into Frimpong out of frustration more than anything. And as a result, the youngster had to stretchered off with what looked like a bad injury. Inexplicably, referee Don Robertson decided to take no action against the Killie man.

We are expected to receive an injury update on Frimpong when Neil Lennon addresses the media ahead of Saturday’s game against Ross County.
